In the penultimate round of her 2024 Indy NXT campaign, Jamie Chadwick secured a P5 finish at the Milwaukee Mile, her third top-five finish of the season.
Ahead of her fifth oval start of the season, Jamie immediately showed what was in store for the weekend, ranking P5 in Practice on Friday.
Building on a solid start, Jamie headed into Qualifying on Saturday with confidence and delivered a strong first lap of 151.3 mph, taking provisional pole after her second lap left her with an average of 150.745 mph.
Callum Hedge and Christian Brooks followed but couldn’t dislodge Jamie from the top spot. However Louis Foster and Jacob Abel narrowly eclipsed her average to bump JC to P3.
Rolling out from the second row later that day, Jamie immediately passed Abel for P2 before building a buffer to Salvador de Alba behind.
Come Lap 25, the gap to Foster in P1 was closing, getting down to as close as 0.5s before a caution five laps later broke up proceedings.
On the Lap 34 restart, de Alba got past at Turn 3 which knocked Jamie back down to her Qualifying position.
On Lap 38, Jamie fell to P4 when the multi-lap defence of Abel eventually came to an end. After a positive opening third of the race, it was important to settle back into a rhythm on this legendary Wisconsin oval.
As the race entered its final throes, Jamie had closed the gap to Abel ahead but had lapped traffic to navigate. Whilst doing so, Bryce Aron managed to make his way past, leaving Jamie to settle for P5 after a strong weekend in the Midwest.
Sitting P6 in the standings with 297 points to her name, there is still plenty up for grabs as Indy NXT heads into its season finale in Nashville.
